How to create SEO ready content for your website

This document is a guide to creating SEO ready content for your website.

Identify your keyword or phrase

It is important that you have a clear idea of the word or phrase that you wish to rank for. For example, if you were to create a piece of content broadly about web design, "web design" would you be your key phrase.

How to implement your keyphrase into your content

Once you have identified your keyword or phrase, you now need to implement it appropriately into your content. Below are a few key areas where your keyword or phrase must be included.

Title
Ensure that your keyword or phrase is included in your page title.

First Paragraph
It is important that your keyword or phrase is used as early as possible in the first paragraph of your content, ideally in the first sentence.

You will also need to include your keyword or phrase throughout your content. However, be careful not to overuse it as this will be detrimental to SEO. Your keyword density should be between .5 and 3% of your word count as per SEO tools such as Yoast SEO.

Optimising your page format for SEO

The layout of your page can also affect your SEO ranking. Below are some tips on how to optimise the format of your content for SEO.

Paragraphs
Make sure you break your text up appropriately, this will increase the chance of your content being read.

Subheadings
Subheadings are another good way of breaking up your page. They are also an effective way of creating a structure to your content.

Heading Tags
Use Heading Tags on your subheadings. However, make sure H1 is only used for the page title.

Bullet Points
Use bullet points where possible in order to break up your text and also add descriptive content which will benefit SEO.

Page Length
A good quality page should have a word count of a minimum 500 words.
